Why?

Posted in Career, General on August 30, 2010 by lilcazzi

Lots of people, work colleagues and family have asked me why I want to join the Army .. My answer to them is simple really.

I don’t want to be stuck in a boring 9-5 job for the rest of my life, I want challenges, excitement and life long learning, and I’m pretty certain the Army can offer me all of the above!

Med Forms have been sent to the AFCO now so I’m playing a waiting game whilst it’s all sorted.

Can’t wait to start my Forces Career. Totally 100% for me.

Application Stage 1

So I made a visit to my local AFCO in Telford and enquired about joining the Army.

Had to fill in a form and received a few booklets on my chosen career path.

The SSGT I spoke with was very nice, and helpful and also gave me some info on the BARB tests I’ll be taking as soon as the Medical Forms have been sorted out.

Few days on from this visit i recieve some official post – Med Forms for me and my doctor to complete.

My local surgery can be funny about filling in forms, so I hope they realise the MOD will be paying them to do it.

Think my BMI is within range but still have a lot of work to do between now and joining. I’ve been informed it’s a good 12-18 month wait for Nursing which gives me plenty of time to prepare physically and mentally.

So its the Army for me then!

So I’ve finally decided to join the British Army, hopefully as a Student Nurse … I’ll see what career options are open to me when i complete my BARB test and interview.

Firstly though I need to get my Dr to complete the Medical forms so that I can be cleared as medically fit.

The only problem I may have is my fitness and weight. Hence the need to start a thorough training plan NOW.

So follow me as I progress through the various stages of recruitment and hopefully see my career plan come together in 18 months time.
