Got my BARB booked for 10:00am Tuesday.  Nervous, but i’m sure it’ll go well.

My recruiter wants to take me through a few things, and also discuss possible career options, so i am looking forward to that!

Think this ball is officially rolling!

Recieved the best phone call this morning.  Have been Med Cleared!!!! YAY!

I’m totally and utterly stoked about the news, specially after the last few days.

Just been into the AFCO to pick up my official application forms and a BARB test booklet.

So gonna have myself a read and get these bad boys filled in.  The sooner they are done, the sooner i can get my BARB test done.

Feeling pretty good at the moment!!

Here comes the cold :(

After one of the worst weekends ever, i woke up Sunday morning with a sore throat, nothing too bad i suppose.  Went to work last night and by 4am i was totally drained, had no energy whatsoever.

My boss has given me tonight off, so im gonna try sweat this bitch out. Think its a cold/chest infection, and i really hate having a cold, makes you feel like your not really here.

Lost my Great Gran on Sunday morning too, gonna miss her like mad, but at least shes at peace now.

So finally the Doctors have sent my all important med forms back to the AFCO.

Contacted my recruiting officer this morning and he advised that all was ok, my forms are now on route to ADSC Lichfield where they’ll either clear me or tell me to jog on.

At least now the ball is moving, should see no reason not to be cleared at this early stage. Hopefully they won’t take my fitness level into consideration.

Training is going well. Running is becoming easier, I think i’ll be easily clearing the 1.5 mile time in a few weeks, and then I’ll just keep on working at my overall fitness, strength and stamina.

My medical practice have had my forms for over 2 weeks now, and yet the AFCO have yet to receive them.

I’m going to wait till Friday then give them a call, see what’s going on.

I know it may seem like I’m moaning, well yeah I am but it’s holding up my application, I can’t proceed with BARB tests etc until these forms are back with my recruitment officer and I’m found to be medically cleared.

I will hopefully be deemed as fit for service, no serious illness/disease or any other medical history, the only time I’ve ever really visited the Doc is for routine check ups and a few blood tests.

The running is coming along well, I have decided that I need to find a new route because I’m currently running around a pond and it gets really marshy and the ground is very uneven and I think I’m pushing it with my ankles.

Maybe if someone is reading they could recommend some decent running trainers?

So anyway, I’m in full swing … Will update again when I hear from the Doctors on Friday :)

Week 1

Posted in Career on September 25, 2010 by lilcazzi

So I’m reaching the end of my first week in Training. Gonna go have a run later tonight and then tomorrow is rest day.

Totally enjoying myself, never thought I’d say that but I think this running lark suits me!

I’ve 7 weeks left on this particular training plan so hopefully will see large improvements by the end date, and then I’m moving onto the next level.

Still need to phone my AFCO on Monday to confirm all paperwork has been received. Then I’ll be able to get booked in for my BARB and other tests.

I’m already preparing myself for these tests and interviews. Don’t want to give a poor performance at such an early stage in the process.

That’s about all I can update you with for now, seems a very slow moving train but I’m sure speed will increase with time :)

How fit am i?

Went for a run this morning on my Initial Steps Workout Plan and managed to run 1 mile in 14mins 38secs, so its not as bad as i first feared.

I did honestly think it would take me around 18-20 mins to complete a mile so im feeling pretty good about getting the 1.5 mile time down to under 10 minutes.

I still have 7 weeks of this workout left to complete, and am quite hopeful that i will achieve my goal within this period, and then be able to focus on stamina and longer distance running, and also upper/lower body strength in the gym.

After a few weeks i will post a collation of my GPS route maps, and give you a further insight into my progress, but for now i am keeping it all under wraps :)

Again im using the miCoach app, which is available for free download on the Apple App Store.  Its actually a really good workout app, and helps you keep tabs on how well you are performing.

So till next time … Thanks for reading :)
